Covid visited and stayed long
So the 'dignity of work' vanished
Temporarily, again, but I'm weakened
And so here's old mate Jobseeker
(Formerly Newstart, unemployment benefit,
The dole or our social security)
                    
How's trickle-down working for you?
I'm waiting for the pendulum to swing
After the whole rotten economy collapses
Might be waiting a while yet
                  
There's a perverse satisfaction
When I’m forced to endure a poverty that
Our fearless leaders will never know about
Perhaps that's part of my instinct
The lure to ruin myself with self-sabotage
Didn't Kierkegaard write about that?
The everpresent skeletal hand of existing
